Opportunity – Bold Insider Ambassador Programme at Bold Tendencies

Today we are bringing you a project close to our hearts. Two of our Directors, Anna and Sarah, run the education programme at Bold Tendencies, an annual sculpture commissioning project based in a multistory car park in Peckham, south east London. So naturally, we think this programme is really rather good, have a look for yourself!

Project Name: The Bold Insiders

Level of Experience Required: None. An interest in visual art/events/curating/arts management/cross arts is desirable

Project Description/Aims:

A professional development programme for a small group of young people aged 16-18, interested in the arts (particularly the visual arts) as a career. They will have a series of meetings at Bold Tendencies 6 to see some of the process involved with organising the exhibition. Bold Insiders will be encouraged to attend and experience Bold Tendencies events where possible; review them on the blog, interview attendees and evaluate. They will have specific tasks to complete as part of the course, in particular to write a blog of their experiences, review the show, interview key industry leaders, and will attend various events throughout the exhibition. They will also design, programme, manage and deliver their own networking event at the end of the exhibition.

Opportunity: East Meets East

A fantastic opportunity has become available from Four Corners to work with highly acclaimed Romanian film personnel to create 2 short films to be screened in July 2012. It’s all covered: Camera work, sound, production and post-production.

Project Description/Aims: 

This exciting FREE project brings together highly-acclaimed Romanian film personnel with young people from London’s East End.  We are looking for people to be involved in all aspects of camera, sound, production and post-production with professional support, leading up to a gala screening in July 2012.  Two short films will be created, a drama and a documentary.

The Romanian New Wave of filmmakers has been taking European film festivals, critics and audiences by storm in recent years – this is a very special chance to work with:

  • Radu Muntean (winner of Jury Special Prize in Namur and Golden Owl Award in Leeds)
  • Alexandru Baciu (scriptwriter)
  • Catalin Cristutiu (editor)
  • Anamaria Marinca (BAFTA winner actress)

Opportunity: The Sunday Spot for families at South London Gallery

This morning we’re meeting for a coffee at the marvellous South London Gallery. As well as amazing contemporary art shows and a fab cafe, the SLG has an incredible programme for children and young people. If you’re local, you’ll know it well. Opportunity: Infinite Kusama by Tate Collective

Anyone a bit shy about committing to a whole workshop? Drop in days are a great way to try things out and see what arts stuff you might like to participate in. Have you ever been to Discover Children’s Story Centre in Stratford, east London? If not, parents, get your little ones down there right now! It’s a wonderland of story and adventure, a place where characters and scenarios leap off the page and beg to be a part of your world.
